CATL to equip 5,000+ J&T Express trucks with battery swapping

CATL will fit more than 5,000 heavy-duty trucks in J&T Express's fleet with its full battery-swap solution — swappable packs, swap stations, and O&M — with 3–5 minute swaps replacing depot charging.

CATL will equip more than 5,000 heavy-duty trucks in logistics operator J&T Express's fleet with its complete battery-swapping solution — swappable batteries, swap stations, and ongoing operation and maintenance. Swaps take three to five minutes, against hours for depot charging.

Why it matters

Battery swapping for heavy trucks only works at fleet scale, and this is the anchor-fleet kind of order that justifies station buildout: CATL's Qiji Energy unit plans a cumulative 900 heavy-truck swap stations in 2026. It moves CATL further from selling cells toward owning the energy-service layer of electric freight.

What to watch

Station utilization as the J&T fleet ramps, and whether other logistics majors sign on to the same standardized pack.
