Toyota's '400,000 humanoid robots' is a plant-upgrade plan from 2028 — and its humanoid rolls on wheels

The Toyota group plans to introduce 400,000 in-house robots at plants worldwide from 2028 or later — 150,000 at Toyota's own plants and 250,000 at group companies — as part of roughly ¥1 trillion a year of factory upgrades. The humanoid it has shown, ELEY, is a 50 kg wheeled machine with two-fingered hands. Reports disagree on whether the 400,000 are all humanoids.

Hyundai takes full control of Boston Dynamics — days after the first anti-robot car-factory strike

Hyundai will buy SoftBank's remaining 9.9% of Boston Dynamics for about $325M — a put option priced at the 2021 valuation (~$3.3B) — taking 100% ownership as it readies Atlas for factory deployment from 2028.
