Zoox recalls its whole fleet's software after a robotaxi drove into a fire scene — and NHTSA sets a deadline
Zoox issued a software recall covering all 105 of its robotaxis after one failed to detect heavy smoke and entered an active fire scene in Las Vegas on June 20. NHTSA called the failure a 'functional insufficiency,' cited a clear industry pattern of AVs interfering with first responders, and told operators to bring remedies before month's end.
