Tesla launched its robotaxi service in Miami — its first market outside Texas (Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio) and California (Bay Area). The geofenced zone covers western Miami-Dade — West Miami, Doral and Coral Gables — and includes Miami International Airport. The fleet runs Model Ys; the purpose-built Cybercab is slated to join once volume production scales later in 2026. Coral Gables fire crews completed emergency-response training with Tesla ahead of the launch.

Why it matters

Third state, and the first expansion into a market with Florida's permissive AV statute — evidence the playbook (geofence, Model Y fleet, local emergency training) is repeatable rather than an Austin one-off. Airport pickup access is the practical detail: it puts the service in front of high-frequency riders from day one, in a metro where Waymo hasn't launched.
