Waymo reported a fatal Dallas crash to NHTSA: its vehicle was slowing for a pedestrian in the roadway when an SUV struck that pedestrian, sending them into the Waymo's rear left side. A Tesla Model 3 was stopped on the eastbound Loop 202 in Mesa, Arizona at about 3 a.m. when a Ford F-350 struck it from behind, killing the driver. Tesla's own telematics marked the automation "Verified Engaged" — Autopilot or FSD was active. It is the second such death in weeks, after a near-identical Florida case, and investigators did not know the system was on.
