Business Insider reported that Amazon set up an "Early Rack Receipt" program to take about $5 billion of Nvidia GB300 racks into intermediate warehouses because several AWS sites lack the utility capacity to switch them on; Amazon calls it routine staging. The same week Amazon, AEP and X-energy agreed to study twelve Xe-100 reactors, 960 MW, at a retired Indiana coal plant. X-energy has not yet built a reactor.
X-energy said the Department of Energy has notified it of up to $1B in additional Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program funding for the four Xe-100 units planned at Dow's Seadrift complex in Texas, taking federal support since 2021 to as much as $2.15B. The award carries the same 50/50 cost-share, so the money must be matched privately.
X-energy / US NRC — The NRC issued a Finding of No Significant Impact for X-energy's plan to build four 80 MWe Xe-100 reactors at Dow's Seadrift site on the Texas Gulf Coast — the first commercial nuclear project in the NRC's 52-year history cleared through a streamlined environmental assessment rather than a full environmental impact statement. The Amazon-backed developer still faces the separate safety review next.
